D Phase

Blockout D Phase

  • Added more props for set dressing
  • Improved lighting

Wireframes

Some props created to make the level feel more lived in. For the bookshelf, I was planning on just doing a plane with a projection of the the books to make it seem populated. The potted plant will most likely have less verts on the fronds by the end, and the chandelier will also make use of transparency like the potted plant for the ropes.

My UVs are trash right now only because I am still planning out how many props will fit onto one UV square. Some automatic commands may have been made here, but will be improved.

Inspiring Reference

1. Create an Artstation account - I would like for you to create an Artstation Account.

2. Create a collection for your top 10 artist -After your account is created, it's possible for you to make collections, this allows for you to find images on Artstation and then add them to a collection that you give a name to.

Make a collection for your top 10 artist that you like/are inspired by. Some may be in your collection because you really like their design work, others may because of their layout and how they present their work, some you may enjoy because of their use of subject matter, some you will be drawn to their modeling abilities.

2. Creating A Visual Board Of Inspiration - After your collection is completed, we need to make a pure ref board that is in the 16X9 aspect ratio.

Place your top images from each of your artist on this board, this visual map should start to reveal to you visually some of the most important subject matter that will start to guide and inform the type of work you want to make.

These are the props I created for our Tell Tale Heart levels. I tried getting basic forms down for the objects being modified for the 90s Cyberpunk/Spider-verse aesthetic. As this is is the blockout stage, I didn't want to get too detailed as a lot of what makes that theme unique is mainly in textures and hand painter techniques.

My First Sticker: The Eye

For this assignment, I learned how to print stickers using the Cricut machine. The process was fascinating, starting with arranging the image on the grid to configuring it to printing the actual file on the special sticker paper. After this, I have some more ideas for what other stickers I would like to create in the future!

Dragon Chest Phase 2.75

Final Mesh Retopo After Bake: 7.2k

UVs in Substance Painter

This is truly my first time stylized hand painting a hard surface prop as my own has only come from organic stylized things like plants and grass. A very challenging task!
As far as tech goes, I think my own RAM was against me crashing every program known on the 3D art pipeline. My Substance Painter bugged out and I had to paint everything on the 3D view exclusively which made some strokes messier than I'd like. But the final shots of it are still satisfactory!
I labeled this post as part 2.75 because there is still polish that needs to be done with the colors and adjustments to metallic values inside the chest.
